Welcome to Divertmind! I'm Eli Divert, and this is my story of faith, healing, and inner peace.

Struggles: A Busy Mind That Never Rests

For a long time, my mind felt like a room full of noise with no way out.

I had a hard time with anxiety, ADHD, and thoughts that wouldn’t go away. It felt like my mind was always running, making me feel worried, tired, and stuck.

What Was Hard for Me:

Thinking Too Much:

“I would go over things in my head, wondering if I said the right thing. I worried about what others thought of me, even about small stuff.”

ADHD Made Everything Harder:

“Simple things felt really tough. My mind would jump from one thought to another, making it hard to focus and get things done.”

Unwanted Thoughts:

“Sometimes, strange or scary thoughts would pop into my head. They made me feel bad and confused, and sometimes I even questioned my faith.”

How It Made Me Feel:

“All of this made me feel really tired and not like myself. I often felt like I wasn’t good enough and wondered if peace was something only other people had.”

I’m just a regular person—a husband, a dad, and a believer—trying to find peace in my busy mind.

I’m not a doctor or a pastor. I don’t have special training in mental health. But I do have real-life experience from my own struggles and trying to find my way.

For a long time, I looked for help:

  • 💊 Tried Different Medicines: Some helped, but not all.
  • 📱 Kept Myself Busy: With work, social media, and even alcohol, hoping to quiet my mind.
  • Felt Stuck in Guilt: I thought something was wrong with me.

But nothing worked for long.

The Change:

One day, I stopped trying to run away from my thoughts. I turned to my faith.
That’s when things started to get better.

Turning Point: When Everything Changed

I was stuck.

Nothing seemed to quiet my mind. I had tried different medications, distractions, and coping methods, but nothing brought lasting peace. I felt like I was running in circles, getting nowhere.

The Moment That Changed Everything:

It was a normal day, but something inside me finally gave in. I stopped fighting my thoughts and started listening. Instead of running away from my struggles, I faced them.

I realized that my mind, body, and soul were not the same. My thoughts did not define me. I was more than my anxiety, ADHD, or intrusive thoughts.

What I Did Differently:

Changed My Mindset:

“I stopped seeing my thoughts as enemies. Instead, I saw them as signals, telling me what needed attention.”

Turned to Faith:

“I began to trust that God had a purpose for me, even in my struggles. I found comfort in knowing that I was loved, even when my mind told me otherwise.”

Found New Tools:

“I started reading the Bible, praying, and spending time in quiet reflection. These practices gave me the strength to take each day as it came.”

How It Felt:

This shift wasn’t instant, but it was real. I felt a new kind of calm. I started to see my challenges as part of my journey, not as things to avoid. My faith helped me rebuild from the inside out.

A New Direction:

After years of feeling lost and exhausted, I knew I needed something more than just temporary fixes. My faith became that “something more.” It wasn’t just about going to church or saying prayers—it was about truly believing that I was loved and valued, even when my mind told me otherwise.

How Faith Helped Me:

Acceptance Over Perfection:

“I stopped trying to earn peace and started to receive it. Faith taught me that I didn’t have to have it all together to be loved.”

Biblical Wisdom for Mental Health

“There is nothing new under the sun.”Ecclesiastes 1:9

Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and ADHD aren’t new. The Bible is filled with stories of real people facing real struggles:

  • Fear of the Future: Moses doubted his ability to lead (Exodus 3:11).
  • Guilt and Intrusive Thoughts: David wrestled with his past mistakes (Psalm 51).
  • Overwhelming Anxiety: Elijah felt so low he wanted to give up (1 Kings 19:4).

If God could guide them through their darkest moments, He can do the same for us. That’s why I started Divertmind—to explore where faith and mental health intersect, offering a space for hope, healing, and honest conversations.

📖 Scripture as My Guide:

“Verses like ‘Be still, and know that I am God’ (Psalm 46:10) became more than words. They became a lifeline, reminding me to pause and find calm in the chaos.”

A New Kind of Strength:

“Through prayer and reflection, I found strength that wasn’t from me. It was from knowing that God walks with me through every struggle.”

Daily Practices That Grounded Me:

  • Morning Devotions: “Starting my day with scripture helped set a positive tone.”
  • Journaling Prayers: “Writing out my thoughts allowed me to release worries and focus on gratitude.”
  • Quiet Time: “Just sitting in stillness, trusting that I didn’t have to solve everything right away.”

What I Learned:

Faith didn’t make my struggles disappear, but it changed how I faced them. It gave me a new lens through which to see myself and my challenges. Instead of being defined by my thoughts, I started to see myself through God’s eyes—worthy, cherished, and whole.

A New Purpose

When I started Divertmind, it wasn’t just a blog—it was a lifeline. I wanted a place to share my story, not as someone who has it all figured out, but as a fellow traveler on this journey. I needed a space to talk openly about the ups and downs of mental health and faith and to connect with others who might feel the same.

From My Struggles to a Mission

When I hit rock bottom—facing anxiety, ADHD, and intrusive thoughts—I knew I wasn’t alone. The Bible showed me that struggles of the mind and heart aren’t new:

  • Moses battled self-doubt.
  • David faced guilt.
  • Elijah experienced deep anxiety.

Their stories inspired me to create Divertmind—a place to share how faith and mental health can go hand in hand. I wanted to bring biblical wisdom, personal experience, and practical advice to those feeling lost and overwhelmed.

“If God could lead His people through their struggles, He can help us navigate ours too.”
